Prayer to Forgive a Parent Who Hurt You

For adult children carrying wounds from childhood.

“Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”

Colossians 3:13 (KJV)

Lord, my parent hurt me, and the pain has followed me for years. I want to be free from bitterness.

Help me be honest about what happened. Heal the wounds in me. Help me forgive, even if they never apologize.

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. Help me forgive as You forgave me.

Give me wisdom about boundaries and the relationship going forward. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

Help me forgive as You forgave me, Lord. Amen.
