Prayer for Hope During Depression

For days when everything feels gray and getting out of bed is a victory.

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”

Psalm 42:11 (KJV)

Lord, I feel heavy. Everything takes so much effort and nothing feels good. I am tired of feeling this way.

I do not have many words, but I am reaching for You. Hold on to me even when I cannot hold on to You.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God, for I shall yet praise Him. Help me believe that I will praise You again.

Lead me to the help I need, a doctor, a counselor, friends who understand. Give me the courage to reach out.

Give me one small good thing today. Help me take one step, eat a meal, take a walk, call someone.

Thank You that this darkness is not the end of my story. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

Lord, hold on to me today. I will hope in You. Amen.
