Prayer for Strength When a Loved One Is in Prison

For families carrying the shame, distance and worry of a loved one behind bars.

“Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.”

Hebrews 13:3 (KJV)

Lord, someone I love is in prison. I feel worried, ashamed and lonely. I miss them, and I fear for their safety.

Protect them. Keep them safe from violence and despair. Let them meet You in that place. Give them good people to be around and a chance to grow.

Give me strength to keep loving them. Help me with visits, calls and letters. Help me forgive where I need to, and set healthy boundaries where I need to.

Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them. Help me remember them, Lord, and help others remember our family with kindness.

Give us hope for the future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

Lord, protect my loved one in prison and give me strength to keep loving. Amen.
