Prayer for the Loss of a Pet

For grieving a dog, cat or other pet who was part of the family.

“The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.”

Psalm 145:9 (KJV)

Lord, my pet has died, and my heart hurts. They were my companion, my comfort and part of our family.

Thank You for every happy moment, every greeting at the door, every quiet evening together.

Comfort me as I come home to an empty space. Help my family, especially the children, grieve well.

The LORD is good to all: and His tender mercies are over all His works. Thank You for Your tender care over all You made.

Heal my heart with time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

Your tender mercies are over all You made, Lord. Comfort me. Amen.
