Prayer Before a Funeral

For the morning of a funeral or memorial service.

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”

John 11:25 (KJV)

Lord, today we say goodbye. I do not know how I will get through this service.

Give me strength to stand, to listen and to speak if I need to. Comfort everyone who comes.

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. Thank You for that hope.

Let this day honor the life we remember and point us to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

You are the resurrection and the life, Lord. Carry me today. Amen.
