Prayer for Recovery After a Stroke

For someone relearning to walk, speak or use their hands after a stroke.

“My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.”

Psalm 73:26 (KJV)

Lord, a stroke changed everything in a moment. Things that used to be easy now take enormous effort. I ask You to bring healing to the brain and body.

Help new pathways form. Restore speech, strength and movement. Give endurance for therapy sessions and joy in every small improvement, a word spoken clearly, a step taken, a hand that grips again.

Guard against another stroke. Guide the doctors with medicine and care. Bless the therapists who work so patiently.

When frustration and tears come, give comfort and courage. Help family members be patient and encouraging, and give them rest too.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but You are the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Be that strength now. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

You are the strength of my heart, Lord. Help me recover one step at a time. Amen.
