Prayer Before a Colonoscopy

A short, honest prayer for the night before and the morning of a colonoscopy, when the prep is hard and the waiting feels long.

“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”

Psalm 56:3 (KJV)

Lord, You know exactly how I feel tonight. The prep is uncomfortable, I am hungry and tired, and my mind keeps jumping ahead to tomorrow. I give You my nerves, my stomach and every what-if that keeps me awake.

Thank You for the doctors and nurses who will care for me. Steady their hands and give them clear eyes. Let the procedure go smoothly, let the sedation be gentle, and let me wake up calm.

Whatever the results show, I trust that You were there before me. If everything is clear, I will thank You with my whole heart. If there is something to treat, give me courage and wisdom for the next step, and remind me that I am not walking it alone.

Give peace to the people who are driving me and waiting for me. Help me rest tonight in the quiet knowledge that You hold my body and my future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

Lord, when I am afraid, I will trust in You. Hold me through tomorrow. Amen.
