“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”
2 Corinthians 4:16 (KJV)
Lord, today is a bad pain day. It started before I even got out of bed, and nothing I try seems to touch it. I am tired of hurting and tired of explaining it to people who cannot see it.
Please ease this pain. Calm the inflammation, quiet the nerves, and help the medicine work. Lead me and my doctors to better answers.
And if the pain stays today, stay with me in it. Give me grace for the plans I have to cancel. Help me be gentle with myself and honest with the people around me.
Keep me from bitterness and despair. Even when my outward body is wearing down, renew my inner self day by day, as You promise. Let me feel Your nearness more than the pain.
Thank You for the small mercies: a warm blanket, a kind word, a few minutes of relief. Help me notice them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Short prayer to remember
Though my body hurts, renew me inside today, Lord. Amen.
