Prayer for Someone in the ICU

For families sitting in the ICU waiting room, praying for someone they love.

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”

Psalm 121:1-2 (KJV)

Lord, someone I love is lying in intensive care tonight, connected to machines I do not understand. I feel helpless, but I know You are not. You see every monitor, every breath, every cell in their body.

Please bring healing. Stabilize their heart and lungs, fight off infection, and let each treatment do what it is meant to do. Give the doctors and nurses sharp minds and steady hands, and keep them alert through the long night shifts.

If they are afraid or in pain, comfort them in ways we cannot. If they cannot hear us, let them feel Your presence.

And Lord, hold our family together in this waiting room. Help us be kind to each other when we are tired and scared. Give us wisdom for every decision we are asked to make.

I lift up my eyes to You. My help comes from You, the Maker of heaven and earth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

My help comes from You, Lord. Hold them through this night. Amen.
