Prayer for Peace After a Bad Dream

For waking up shaken from a nightmare and needing to fall asleep again.

“I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.”

Psalm 3:5 (KJV)

Lord, I just woke up from a bad dream and my heart is still racing. The pictures in my mind felt so real.

Remind me that I am awake now and safe. Wash away the fear the dream left behind. Fill my mind with what is true, good and peaceful.

I laid me down and slept, I awaked, for the LORD sustained me. Sustain me now, Lord, as I lie down again.

Guard my sleep for the rest of this night. Give me rest and good dreams.

If these nightmares keep coming, lead me to the help I need. Thank You that You never sleep and You watch over me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

You sustain me, Lord. Guard my sleep for the rest of this night. Amen.
