Prayer for a Child Starting Kindergarten

For parents walking a little one through the school doors for the first time.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

Lord, today my child starts kindergarten. They look so small with their backpack, and my heart is full of pride and a little sadness.

Walk into that classroom with them. Help them feel brave, make a friend, and listen to their teacher. If they feel scared or miss home, comfort them.

Bless their teacher with patience, joy and wisdom. Make the classroom a safe and happy place.

Help me let go a little and trust You with my child. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Help us train them well, at home and at school.

Bring them home today happy, with stories to tell. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

Lord, walk into class with my child today and make them brave. Amen.
