Prayer for a Marriage Without Children

For couples longing for children, or living with the grief of infertility.

“Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?”

1 Samuel 1:8 (KJV)

Lord, we have longed for children, and our arms are still empty. Some days the grief is quiet and some days it is overwhelming.

Comfort us. Help us not to blame each other or ourselves. Keep our marriage strong and tender.

If it is Your will, give us a child. If not, help us find peace and purpose in the life You have given us.

When Hannah wept, her husband asked, Am not I better to thee than ten sons? Help us treasure each other deeply, whatever happens.

Use our love to bless others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Short prayer to remember

Lord, hold us close in our longing and keep our love strong. Amen.
